Visit of Dr. Lilian Schofield from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College, London to the Office of International Programmes

The Office of International Programmes received Dr. Lilian Schofield from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College Hospital, London accompanied by Professor Ibidun Adelegan, from the Department of Geography and Dr. Olalekan Obisesan from the Department of Statistics on Wednesday 4 September, 2019. They were received by the Director, Office of International Programmes (OIP); Professor Edith O. Ajaiyeoba and Mrs Patricia Afolabi (OIP).

Dr. Lilian Schofield is visiting UI in respect of proposed field trip by students and staff of The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College, London to the University of Ibadan scheduled for April/May, 2020. She enquired on possible accommodation plan for about 45 staff and students.

Professor Edith O. Ajaiyeoba in her response said the students can be accommodated at the Adebayo Akande Hall and Olatunde Rosenwe Hall, while the staff can be accommodated at the UI Hotel. Dr. Lilian Schofield expressed her delight with the fact that the University has sources of accommodation that guarantees safety. She also expressed her concern about the exaggerated opinion about the security in Nigeria relating that she might have to convince them in her University that the situation is not as precarious as it is painted. It was also concluded that they will have to arrange for taxis within the campus for transportation during the field trip. She further asked of the personnel to contact at the Office of International Programmes for further arrangement and logistics in which the Director responded that she can be contacted at any time there is need for help. Dr. Lilian Schofield also informed the Director that a colleague from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College, London; Mr. Michael who will be in Nigeria in two weeks’ time. She mentioned that he would endeavour to further facilitate the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding between their University and the University of Ibadan.
