Information for Visitor
The Office of International Programmes coordinates all activities relating to foreign nationals intending to study at or visit the University of Ibadan.
Foreign Nationals visiting the University of Ibadan fall under two categories: international students and visitors.
An international student is a foreign national applying to the University of Ibadan to pursue a programme at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. International students can choose to study as regular students, exchange students or visiting students.
A regular international student is a full-time degree seeking foreign student applying to the University of Ibadan to pursue a full academic programme at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
An exchange student is a non-degree seeking foreign student at the University of Ibadan from an international partner institution, conducting research, taking courses or participating in other educational or cultural exchange activities. This category of student is usually nominated by the home institution for summer courses, one semester or a full academic year programme. Only students who are currently enrolled in one degree or the other in their home universities are eligible.
A visiting student is a non-degree seeking foreign student at the University of Ibadan from institutions that do not have partnership agreements with the University of Ibadan. Students from partner universities who wish to study in the University of Ibadan as visiting students may also apply.
An international visitor is a foreign national at the University of Ibadan who has been invited by any unit of the University for University related-activities such as: research, teaching, exchange activities, programme development, training, courses, conferences, meetings, sports, arts, etc. There are several categories of international visitors: visiting lecturers, research scholars, specialists and short term visitors.
A visiting lecturer is an academic who is attached to a recognized foreign institution visiting primarily to teach courses, organize lectures or seminars.
A research scholar is an individual who is affiliated to a recognized institution, visiting primarily to conduct research, observe or consult in connection with a research project.
A short term visitor is an academic, research scholar, specialist, or a distinguished personality, coming to the University of Ibadan for a short term period of not more than ninety days, to give or receive lectures, or for the purposes of conducting other university related activities such as sport and arts.
