The Office of International Programmes, University of Ibadan has been appointed a new Director- Professor Edith Ajaiyeoba of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan. Her appointment as the Director of the Office of Interntational Programmes came following the appointment of the former Director of OIP- Professor A.B. Ekanola as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) after a tenure of 1 year and 7 months at the OIP.
Before her appointment as the Director of the Office of International Programmes, Professor Ajaiyeoba was the Head of Pharmacognosy Department, University of Ibadan from August 1, 2014, and also the Hall Mistress of Obafemi Awolowo Hall between November 2018 and March 2019 till she became the Director of OIP. She was once the Assistant Warden, Idia Hall for 8 years.
Professor Ajaiyeoba was the First African female to utilize the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in Natural Products Chemistry and also the First Nigerian female to utilize the African Senior Fulbright Fellowship in Natural Products Chemistry among many other distinctions and honour she has bagged. She is a member of several learned society
She is also a member of Institute of Chattered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON). She has enjoyed the following fellowships among others: Third World Academy of Science (2ice), Alexandar von Humboldt, Fulbright and DAAD. Professor Ajaiyeoba is of no doubt an erudite scholar and we are assured that her appointment as the Director of the Office of International Programmes is by no means a fluke.
We wish her a successful tenure at the OIP and hope that the Internationalisation Agenda of the University of Ibadan will be greatly achieved in her time as the Director.
