Delegation from University of Venda, South Africa, visited The University of Ibadan
A delegation from the University of Venda, South Africa, led by the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Peter Mbati visited the University of Ibadan from Tuesday 11 July to Friday 14 July 2017. Others included Professor Godwin Ainamensa Mchau, Dean School of Agriculture of the University of Venda, South Africa, Mr. Takalani Dzaga the Director of Communications and Marketing in the University of Venda, South Africa and Mr. Cornelius C. A. Hangenmeier, Chief Administrative Officer, International Relations.
The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the MOU which already exists between UNIVEN and UI. The visit witnessed interaction with relevant University management in a view to further strengthening the existing collaborations between the two Institutions which is aimed at creating a vibrant intellectual climate that stimulates relevant cutting edge research and community engagement among African Universities.
A courtesy call was made to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor A. I. Olayinka on 12 July, 2017. The delegates were welcomed to UI by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Emilolorun Aiyelari who represented the Vice-Chancellor. He encouraged the team to take advantage of the visit to reactivate the collaboration between the two Universities. The leader of the delegation also reiterated their plans to further reinforce the MOU between the two Universities. He encouraged that there should be more collaborations between African universities rather than with other foreign Universities.
Thereafter, there was presentation of gift to the guests by the DVC Administration while the leader of the delegation also presented a complementary gift to the VC. Following this was a group photograph with the guests. The delegation also had an interactive session with Deans and HODs of the relevant Faculties and Departments held at the Office of International Programmes followed by a tour to the City of Ibadan before departing the University of Ibadan on Friday 14 July 2017.
